We have an application in our website which uses flash video to play. The problem is that when we update the flash video and start the application again, it loads previous flash video and shows some glitches. I guess it’s because the cache of the flash player does not get updated. Is there anyway we can clear the cache from the flash player when we update the application?
This is not an actual answer but more a comment and might help you to think about how to solve this problem.
The “Cache” of the flash player is NOT a place where you store objects (unless they are not in memory). It is used to display only the changed elements from previous cache clearing. So in case if you modify an item inside the cache it will not be displayed in the next cache clearing. The cache is ONLY a list of the objects that are “loaded”. So if you update the “application” and do not save it. The cache will not be updated. You have to save the changes to see them in the next cache clearing.
In case if you clear the cache like a cycle (like every 3 seconds) the next cache clearing will load the cache and then only it will display the updated data. But there is still an exception if the cache does not have enough space to hold the new data. In this case the cache will still display the old data and will ask for new data in the next cache clearing. So if you want to clear the cache, you have to make sure there is enough space in it.
